Elephants, Snakes and Hobgoblins

The elephant symbolized wholeness. The snake symbolized something else entirely. I was to obtain both. And then I dreamed within my dream.

I was at an outpost and training ground, scouting the area. I had a companion. The two of us were on the run. I had a crossbow. We were clearing a house of its inhabitants. I took a stand on the roof. My companion was clearing rooms. I noticed the patrols outside going toward the house so I distracted them with a holler. I shot one in the head with the crossbow. Several men then began to take shots at me. I fell off the house and was overcome by the patrols.

When I came to, I was a specter of sorts. With focus, I could change shape, become invisible, and hover over the ground. It was winter. I wanted to revenge. I made my way up a line of trees on the compound and slew several guardians. As I was plotting on the next attack, I saw a young female scout behind me take notice of me and the body beside me. She was tactful enough not to scream or react, but instead slowly turn toward her base. I knew she was going to report what she saw and soon I would be done for, so I made a run for it. Over the hill and through the trees. I footsteps would be trackable, so I leapt and landed in snowless spots. I noticed a large medieval farmhouse, which resembled a small castle, so I hovered over to it for cover. But I wouldn't be safe outside. They would find me. The back window was unlocked, so I climbed inside into a vast and dimly lit banquet hall. There was a fireplace next to the window with some strange objects in it – not just for stoking fires. One of them was a book. I picked it up and began flipping through. The language of the book was only half-English, or maybe old English. Suddenly, I was aware that this place was home to a ferocious hobgoblin. I heard faint noises in the distance, coming from inside the house. I was not alone...

The Streets of Kabul

I was with my younger brother in a procession. I do not know if we were the front, but we definitely were not the end. It was hot, and the dirt road we were walking on was lined on each side with clay-baked walls. We came to an intersection and stopped for the traffic to have its turn. We had waited long enough, perhaps I feared that we would be cut off from the group. So Josh and I made our way through to the other side. There may have been merchants on the side of the road. It did feel a bit Aladdin-esque. I look back every so often to check on the procession and it appears we had gotten separated. It was just my brother and me walking through the street. Then suddenly I look back and he wasn't there. I do a 360 and look all around me. The wall. I leap up and grab onto the top of the wall and pull myself up. Looking over, I see him on the ground being accosted by two kangaroos. One is gnawing on his arm while the other holds him down. I jump over the wall and run toward him – kicking the kangaroo off him that was holding him down. The other one stops gnawing for a moment to look up and see what happened. I uppercut the bastard off my brother. Josh is ok.

Previously or later, we are resting at a dumpling spot. There are several females who are made known to us. One is a rich heiress know as Nadir or Nadan or something. Another is a local celebrity of sorts. I can't remember her name. A woman in a purple dress addresses the audience and departs. The other woman comes toward us to talk. I don't know who is which. Wishfully, I tell her that she is the heiress, and she is disappointed that I was wrong. She is Jamaican, she said, so how is Nadir or Nadan a Jamaican surname? Well, I reply, I have a friend from Jamaica whose last name is McCaw, and he is not Irish. So names can be misleading. She agrees. Our adventure begins, or it ends.

We approach a gateway of sorts. It is big enough for my brother and me to walk through, but it lacks depth. Yet it seems an entire world exists inside it. That is where the boss is. It is a tunnel going up with vacuum breath. We go inside and confront what is on the other side. It still remains an enigma, but it was terrible. We emerge and retrace our steps to collect some exploding balls we had previously found. We collect several and roll then into the gateway. They are immediately sucked up and the gateway closes. Then it booms and shakes, yet does not falter. We repeat, and the results are the same. We weigh our options. A super ballista – we found one earlier. We could try that. It has one huge spear and several smaller accompanying arrows for widespread damage. I'm not sure how that would work since we may not be able to get the ballista inside..

No idea what to think about this

I dreamed of two spheres – perhaps they were moons. There was intelligent life on each. The life on each planet was to send a probe with their species to the other planet, but the direct trajectory was impossible due to some interference, possibly of a third object. One of the spheres was able to send off their probe without a hitch. The other did so with great difficulty, and it landed, dormant on the dark side of the moon. Eventually, the first species, which resembled humans, discovered the foreign probe on their sphere and began to investigate it. The small team of 2-3 men were unsure how to go about cracking the probe. It had laid dormant for so long and was mysterious and brainy. One of the team just dug in and began removing gray matter until there was a cavity big enough to stick an arm into. The man proceeded to do just that and was shocked to find empty space between the brainy matter. But as his arm penetrated up to his shoulder blade, he felt something gooey. He slowly removed his arm and noticed some light violet goo on his hands. A sign of the probe's content. He began widening the hole to better examine what what inside. Big mistake. The inside awoke. It startled into consciousness with a shrewd caw with beak-like jaws agape. It had raccoon or lemur eyes, shadows accented by a sleepy yet violent sign of life. The team never got a look at its body. The bolted, either out of fear or being startled, and shut the door behind them. Immediately after, the creature, already emerged, began to try to open the doorknob. One member of the team pulled on the other side of the knob with all his might to keep the hellish thing away. The door budged several inched inward from the creature's effort, but then the man redoubled his effort and braced himself for more. The team want to give it food to quell its spirits, but on the other side of the door, fearing for their safety, there wasn't much they could do.
